This workshop is attended by UG-6 students of Lifestyle & Accessory Design and Fashion Design, headed by Academic coordinators Prof. Kakoli Biswas and Prof. Sweta Dalal respectively.
The workshop started with an insightful speech from Mr. Jaideep Banerjee (Mentor, UID) where he spoke about the latest trends in Visual Merchandising and how usage of different color schemes in VM affects the consumers psychologically.

About Mr. Deepak Chakravarty:

Having more than 18 years of work experience across Retail Industry, Mr. Deepak Chakravarty is an achiever and goal oriented design professional with the drive and ability to work with at all levels of an organization so as to integrate his design and Visual Merchandising skills with the overall business operating strategy. With an experience of more than 18 years, Deepak Chakravarty is a design Graduate from NIFT, New Delhi, 1998 Batch.
Deepak was heading the design team at ITC’s Lifestyle Retailing Business Division and the Visual Merchandising teams for Will’s Lifestyle along with John Players Brands.
Mr. Deepak as a Head of Visual Merchandising for the ADIDAS group, has also been a part of a global Retail portal which provides information flow and feedback loops between global VM, market VM and Store Managers. Currently handling 600+ stores of ADIDAS Sports Centre and ADIDAS Originals, Mr. Deepak brings a vast and in-depth experience in the field of Visual Merchandising with his sharp acumen and understanding of current fashion trends.

The concept of Visual Merchandising:

Visual Merchandising is a subgroup of Retail Merchandising that’s a combination of Art and Science. Because of its dual nature, it seems to be constantly in flux, adapting to changes in preferences and technology. For Brands in brick-and-mortar locations, staying on top of visual merchandising trends is one key way to get ahead of the competition, and create a distinct Retail identity.
